Flyers Recognized for Performances During the Week of Feb. 28-March 6
DAYTON – University of Dayton men’s basketball freshman Koby Brea and softball freshman Haven Dwyer have been named the Ohio’s CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week for contests during Feb. 28-March 6
A native of Washington Heights, New York, Brea averaged 14.0 points/game in two Dayton wins last week, shooting .579 (11-19) from the field and .600 (6-10) from beyond the arc. Saturday, in the Davidson win, he scored 18 points on 7-10 FG shooting, including 4-6 from three-point range. With Dayton down one, he hit a step-back dagger with 43 seconds to go to put Dayton up two in what proved to be the game-winning basket. He scored 11 of his 18 points in the second half (3-4 3-pt.) as Dayton came from behind at halftime for only the third time this year. At Richmond on Tuesday, he scored 10 points and had two steals.
Cincinnati product Dwyer picked up two wins in the circle for the Flyers over the weekend. She recorded her first career win Friday in her start against College of Charleston after putting in 5.0 innings of work with two earned runs and three strikeouts. Also got the win in Friday’s second game after 4.0 innings of relief against Lipscomb after holding the Bisons scoreless. Posted a 1.31 ERA for the weekend with seven Ks over 10.2 innings pitched. Dwyer was named A-10 Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
