Louisville Bats defeat Columbus Clippers, 4-2

The Bats topped the Clippers, Saturday night at Slugger Field, 4-2. Louisville used timely hitting and good pitching to hold off Columbus. The IL West leaders left 13 men on base in the defeat.

Louisville got going quickly in the first inning when Juan Francisco drove home Zack Cozart on an RBI-single to center field off of Carlos Carrasco.

Wladimir Balentien had 2 RBI's for Bats (MiLB)

Columbus would comeback to tie the game up in the fourth inning as Nick Weglarz singled home Luis Valbuena. Valbuena reached base in all five plate appearances, as he recorded three hits and was also walked twice.

Todd Frazier scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Wladimir Balentien in the bottom half of the fourth inning to give the Bats a 2-1 advantage. Louisville would add another run in the fifth inning when Frazier singled home Cozart and Balentien concluded the scoring with a solo homer in the eighth.

Clippers DH/3B Wes Hodges hit his eighth homer of the season, a solo shot to straightaway center field in the sixth.
