The preseason Horizon League favorite Wright State men’s basketball team opens the 2020-21 season inside the Nutter Center with a pair of games this week, hosting Marshall on Thursday night and welcoming Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon.

Fans can follow the action for both games in a pair of ways – by tuning in to WRZX 106.5 FM or watching on ESPN3/ESPN+. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will bring Raider fans the play-by-play on the radio and ESPN feeds.

While fans will not be physically inside the Nutter Center to open the season, Raider fans are still able to show their support during the upcoming season through the Nutter Center Virtual Sellout campaign. The campaign enables fans to have a (virtual) seat in the arena, while cheering on the team from home.

Wright State will meet Marshall for the third time in program history to open the schedule Thursday night. The teams previously met in a home-and-home series during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns, with each squad winning on its home floor. Marshall was a seven-point home winner in December 2006 before the Raiders had a seven-point win of their own November 2007 inside the Nutter Center.

Marshall tallied a 17-15 record last season overall with a 9-9 mark in Conference USA play, and is coming off of a 70-56 win over Arkansas State at home on Friday. Taevion Kinsey scored a game-high 17 points and Darius George added 15 of his own. The Thundering Herd were slated to open the season on Nov. 25 before seeing that contest against Coppin State canceled.

Wright State is set to square off with Miami (OH) for the 37th time in program history on Saturday, with the Raiders riding a two-game winning streak in the series thanks to a road victory in Oxford last year that was followed up with a neutral site win in the Gulf Coast Showcase two weeks later. This will be the 21st consecutive season the regional foes will square off, in a series that dates back to December 1972.

The RedHawks finished 2019-20 with a 13-19 record overall and a 5-13 mark in MAC play. Miami (OH) opened its season with an 81-67 home win over North Dakota last Wednesday, with Dae Dae Grant scoring a career-high 21 points and James Beck posting a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The RedHawks are slated to host Defiance College at home on Monday night ahead of the matchup with the Raiders on Saturday.
