The Mean Green earn 14th bowl berth in program history
DENTON, Texas – North Texas football has accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas, and will face Boise State from the Mountain West Conference. The game will be played on December 17 at 8:15 pm CT at Toyota Stadium. It will be broadcast by ESPN.
“We are excited to have two outstanding teams participate in the 2022 Frisco Bowl, the Boise State Broncos and North Texas Mean Green,” said Sean Johnson, Frisco Bowl Executive Director. “We are looking forward to hosting this great matchup and to welcoming the teams and their passionate fan bases to Frisco, Texas for an exciting week of bowl events and a fantastic game at Toyota Stadium.”
UNT finished the regular season 7-6 and earned the program’s second ever berth in the Conference USA Championship game. The Mean Green are making their 14th bowl appearance all-time and sixth in the last seven seasons. UNT is 3-10 in postseason bowl games.

The Mean Green are playing in their sixth bowl all-time in the state of Texas after trips to the 1946 Optimist Bowl (Houston), 1959 Sun Bowl (El Paso) plus visits to the Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2014 and 2016 along with the 2021 Frisco Football Classic.
Boise State posted a 9-4 record in 2022, including an 8-0 mark in Mountain West games before falling 28-16 to Fresno State in the conference championship game. The all-time series between UNT and Boise State is tied 3-3 with the last meeting during the 2000 season.
