Fury Head Coach Angel Perez announced Marengo, Ohio native Raina Terry as the team’s first pick in the second round. The 6’3″ graduate student at the University of Illinois was one of two outside hitters drafted by the Fury. In 2023, Terry had 549 kills and 4.69 kills per set as a senior, and finished third nationally in attacks per set, fourth in total attacks, eighth in kills per set and ninth in total kills.
“We needed a big arm on the outside with a big presence on block,” said Coach Perez.  “I feel like we got that with Rena.  She is the top scorer in the Big Ten and the cherry on top she is a native of (Marengo) Ohio.”

The Fury chose 6’1″ middle blocker Abby Walker from the University of Cincinnati in the fourth round, the 32nd overall pick.  She was named the Freshman of the Year in the ACC,  played in every match her sophomore and junior years, and scored a season high 19 points against Akron her senior year. Another Ohio native, Walker went to John Glenn High School in Cambridge.
“Abby is a steal in the draft,” said Coach Perez.  “We were looking for a middle that could move side-to-side quickly and Abby fits the mode.”
