Nashville’s Luke Evangelista, second cousin of Hockey Hall of Famer Brendan Shanahan, scores game winner in Blue Jackets game; Predators have a surprising year for a rebuilding team

By Joe Coopersmith

The Nashville Predators play in the rugged, physical NHL Central Division with Dallas, Winnipeg, Colorado, St. Louis, Minnesota, Arizona and Chicago.

The Predators sit 4th in the division but own the first Western Conference Wild Card by 2 points over Vegas.

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year but they are 4th in the Central with a record of 34-25-4 with 78 points.

They are one of the NHL’s fastest skating teams.

Luke Evangelista scored his first game-winning goal of the season and matched a career-high three-game point streak (2g-1a). In his 63rd game of the season, the Predators rookie has reached the 30-point mark (13g-17a) for the first time in his career. Evangelista is now fifth among NHL rookies in goals and tied for sixth in points.
