DAYTON, Ohio – For the second consecutive year, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men’s basketball program will head to UD Arena for a First Four game of the NCAA Tournament and will face Southeast Missouri State at 5:40 p.m. (CT) Tuesday in a nationally televised game on truTV.
Both teams received a No. 16 seed. The Islanders (23-10, 14-4 SLC) earned the automatic bid from the Southland Conference, while the Redhawks (19-16, 10-8 OVC) earned an automatic bid from the Ohio Valley Conference.
A&M-Corpus Christi will make its third-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and second in a row. The Islanders won both the SLC regular season and tournament titles this year, and will enter play having won 12 of the last 13 games.
The Redhawks won four games in four days in the OVC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, including an 89-82 overtime victory over second-seeded Tennessee Tech in the finals. SEMO will make its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 1999-00.
The winner of the A&M-Corpus Christi and SEMO match-up will advance to play No. 1 Alabama at 1:45 p.m. Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama on CBS.
