COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will host Michigan State on Sunday in the first of two meetings this season between the two teams. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Value City Arena inside the Schottenstein Center and it will be televised nationally on CBS. Andrew Catalon and Ohio State Hall of Famer Clark Kellogg will call the action.

  • Sunday’s game will be the 140th all-time meeting. The Spartans officially own the all-time series lead at 73-59.
  • The Buckeyes have won the last two meetings in Value City Arena and officially hold a 9-7 edge in the previous 16 meetings in the building.
  • Last year, in the lone game between the teams, Ohio State raced out of the gate on a 13-0 run and cruised to an 80-69 victory on March 3 in Columbus. Malaki Branham led the way with a game-high 22 points to go along with four assists. Joey Brunk made just his third start of the season and finished with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. E.J. Liddell added 19 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
  • This will be just the sixth time Ohio State has played on Super Bowl Sunday. The Buckeyes hold a 3-2 record and have won the last three times on the day of the big game. The last time was in 2018, which was also the year of Philadelphia’s lone Super Bowl title.
  • Sunday’s game is also the second of back-to-back home games for the Buckeyes. These were the first two back-to-back home games since Dec. 21 and Dec. 28.
  • Freshman Brice Sensabaugh is one of two freshmen on the Julius Erving Award Top 10 this week, which annually honors the country’s top small forward. He tops the team in scoring at 16.7 ppg and has made a team-high 48 three-pointers.
  • Point guard Bruce Thornton has played well the last two games. He scored a season-high 22 points at Michigan and followed that with 12 points, three assists and zero turnovers vs. Northwestern. He has averaged 17 points over the last two games while shooting 68 percent (15-of-22) from the floor.
  • With his first assist on Thursday night vs. Northwestern, Ice Likekele reached 500 career assists and is now just the fourth active player with 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 500 assists. He’s the only one of the four to do it at a Power 5 school.
  • Justice Sueing has averaged 16.5 points while shooting over 50 percent from the floor over the last two games.
