ATHENS, Ohio — The Ohio men’s basketball team (4-4) returns to action after finals week on Sunday, Dec. 11 when they head to Youngstown, Ohio to take on Youngstown State (7-3). Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. The Bobcats matchup will be seen on ESPN+.

The Bobcats’ matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 15th season as the “Voice of the Bobcats” and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornlius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station network’s flagship.  

STORYLINES
• Ohio is coming off an 83-69 loss at Marshall on Dec. 3. 
• This is the 19th all-time meeting between Ohio and Youngstown State. 
• Ohio leads the all-time series, 14-4. 
• The Bobcats and Penguins last faced off in the regular season on Dec. 20, 1993, with Ohio winning 85-42 in Athens. 
• Ohio is 7-3 all-time playing on the road at Youngstown State. 
• Youngstown State enters the matchup with Ohio with a 7-3 record. 
• Youngstown State is coming off a 117-65 win over Westminster on Thursday night.

• Miles Brown was stellar during the Bobcat Battle, averaging 16.0 points. 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. He shot .688 from the field and was 8-of-11 (.727) from three, while making both free throws. 
• Freshman AJ Brown made his Ohio debut on Nov. 25 against Eastern Illinois. 

SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Youngstown State enters the matchup with Ohio with a 7-3 record and is coming off a 117–65 victory over Westminster on Dec. 8.

Overall, YSU averages 86.5 points a game, while shooting .500 from the field, .381 from three and .753 from the line. The Penguins also averages 39.5 rebounds a game, 14.5 assists and 7.5 steals a game. YSU also force 14.1 turnovers a game. 

Meanwhile, Opponents average 72.6 points and 33.4 rebounds a game. Opponents also shoot .432 from the field, .346 from three and .689 from the line. Opponents also dish out 12.8 assists and grab 6.6 steals a game, while also forcing 13.6 turnovers a game. 

Individually, Dwayne Cohill leads the Penguins with 16.8 points a game, while shooting .589 from the field, .577 from three and .844 from the line. He also averages 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game. Malek Green adds 14.1 points and 7.8 rebounds a game, while shooting .549 from the field. Adrian Nelson 13.0 points and 9.4 rebounds, while Brandon Rush averages 10.5 points a contest.

Ohio enters the matchup with Youngstown State with a 4-4 record after falling to Marshall on Dec. 3 on the road. 

As a team, Ohio is averaging 77.8 points and 40.6 rebounds a game, while opponents average 68.8 points and 33.8 rebounds a game. The Bobcats are also shooting .460 from the field, .351 from three and .697 from the line. Ohio also adds 14.9 assists, 6.0 steals and force 12.0 turnovers a game. 

Opponents are shooting .428 from the field, .345 from three and .605 from the line, while dishing out 12.6 assists, 7.9 steals and 11.9 turnovers a game.

The Ohio men’s basketball team (4-4) returned to action on Saturday evening (Dec. 3), falling to Marshall (7-1), 83-69, inside the Cam Henderson Center. 

Overall, Ohio shot 43 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and were 40of-6 from the line, while Marshall shot 46 percent from the field, 30 percent from three and were 5-of-11 from the line. Marshall outrebounded the Bobcats, 44-40, while the Herd dished out 19 assists to Ohio’s 11 and recorded five blocks and nine steals, while Ohio recorded four steals on one block. 

Individually, Ohio was led by graduate student forward Dwight Wilson III with 16 points and six rebounds, while junior center Gabe Wiznitzer scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed three boards. Freshman guard AJ Brown added 11 points and three-made threes, while sophomore forward AJ Clayton added eight points and six boards. Senior guard Miles Brown added five rebounds and three assists.

For Marshall, Andrew Taylor had 19 points, while Taevion Kinsey added 18 points and nine rebounds. Obinna Anochili-Killen scored 16 points and had six rebounds. 

AJ BROWN MAKES A STATEMENT
Freshman guard AJ Brown showed the type of talent Ohio could see over the next four years against UC Clermont, where he scored a game-high 18 points, went 7-of-11 from the field and dished out four assists in the victory. 

So far this season, Brown is averaging 9.0 points a game and is shooting .519 from the field. 

BROWN SETTING UP FOR CAREER YEAR
Senior guard Miles Brown is already on pace to set new marks in his fourth season in the Green and White. 

After a solid game at Belmont, Brown was clutch against Cleveland State, scoring 14 points and going a perfect 6-of-6 from the line in the victory. 

Brown was also solid against No. 20 Michigan, scoring 11 points and grabbing a season-hight nine rebounds. 

He was back in action during the Bobcat battle where he averaged 16.0 points and set and matched a career-high four made threes before being named the tournament MVP. 

So far on the early season, Brown averages 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds a game, while shooting .500 from three, .475 from the field and .867 from the line. 

WELCOME BACK DJ
In his return to the court after missing all of last season due to a knee injury, Dwight Wilson III put on a show. 

Wilson III finished the game with a game-high 20 points, going 8-of-10 from the field and 4of-4 from the line. He also grabbed eight rebounds in 24 minutes of action. 

He then put on a show at No. 20 Michigan, scoring 21 points and grabbing nine boards. 

Wilson III has continued to dominate during the early part of the season, averaging 12.9 points and 10.0 rebounds a game, while shooting .556 from the field.
