NHL News: Maple Leafs’ Engvall Suspended One Game for High-Sticking

NEW YORK (Dec. 9, 2022) – Toronto Maple Leafs forward Pierre Engvall has been suspended for one game, without pay, for high-sticking Los Angeles Kings defenseman Sean Durzi during NHL Game No. 420 in Toronto on Thursday, Dec. 8, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 1:02 of the third period. Engvall was assessed a match penalty.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Engvall will forfeit $12,162.16. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
