COLUMBUS, Ohio – After rushing for a career-high 147 yards on 27 carries Saturday at Maryland, Ohio State running back Dallan Hayden is this week’s Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week. Hayden shares the honors with Penn State running back Kaytron Allen.
Hayden ran for 144 of his 147 yards in the second half while also scoring three touchdowns. His eight-yard TD run with 12:13 remaining in the third quarter put the Buckeyes ahead for good, while he would later add scores of three and 13 yards, respectively.
In the fourth quarter, Hayden carried 13 times for 76 yards. On an 11-play drive that took 5:12 off the clock late in the quarter, he had nine carries and helped to set up a 45-yard field goal by Noah Ruggles.
Hayden now has back-to-back 100-yard games on his resume, as he ran for 102 yards and a score vs. Indiana on Nov. 12. The Memphis, Tenn. native has 503 yards on 100 carries this season with five touchdowns.
The second-ranked Buckeyes (11-0) host third-ranked Michigan (11-0) on Saturday at noon inside Ohio Stadium. The winner of the game will represent the East Division in next Saturday’s Big Ten Championship Game.
