Flyers Will Have At Least 18 Games Televised Nationally
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dayton men’s basketball team will have at least 18 nationally-televised games in the upcoming 2022-23 season. This news, along with the full Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, was announced today by the University and the A-10.
The A-10 also announced the league’s national television schedule on ESPN Networks, CBS Sports Network and NBC Universal.
Counting games at the Bad Boy Mowers Battle4Atlantis and a non-conference game at home with UNC Asheville, Dayton will play nine games on an ESPN outlet, six on the CBS Sports Network and three on NBC Universal. All games in the A-10 tournament will also be nationally televised.
UD opens the conference season at home against Duquesne on Wednesday, Dec. 28. Dayton then travels to Davidson with a game on New Year’s Eve.
The Flyers have five home games in the month of January, with three on the road. UD has three home games and four away from UD Arena in February, but is on the road four of five games between Feb. 4 and Feb. 22. The final regular season game of the year is Friday, March 3 at Saint Louis.
Dayton’s last 14 games of the A-10 season will be nationally televised.
The Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship will be played in Brooklyn at the Barclay Center.
Dayton returns all five starters from a team that finished 24-11 in 2021-22, and tied for second in the A-10 with a 14-4 record. Included in those 24 wins was a win over eventual national champion Kansas. Headlining the returnees is DaRon Holmes II, who was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, second team all-conference and on the A-10 All-Defensive team. Dayton returns 163 of a possible 175 starts, 90% of possible minutes played, 91% of the scoring and 92% of the rebounding from 2021-22.
UD has qualified for the postseason in the last four seasons since Anthony Grant took over as coach at his alma mater in 2017. UD has also reached post-season play seven of the last eight years.
Dayton’s 13-game non-conference schedule was announced on August 10. The Flyers open the season on Monday, Nov. 7 against Lindenwood. UD will also play an exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 29 against Capital.
Game times and the remainder of the Dayton men’s basketball television schedule will be announced at a later date.
