Columbus Blue Jackets News: Hockey Time! Ice getting installed at Nationwide Arena this Friday

WHAT:            Workers at Nationwide Arena are re-installing the ice surface in preparation for the upcoming 2022-23 Blue Jackets season. Approximately 14,000 gallons of water and 300 gallons of white paint will be used to make an ice surface that will be between 1” to 1 ¼” thick.

The process is expected to begin around 7 a.m. with the application of the white base followed by the painting of goal lines, red lines, blue lines, and goal creases starting in the 9 a.m. hour. 

The ice crew will be applying logos from 10 a.m. through Noon.

NOTES:            The Blue Jackets officially open training camp on Wednesday, September 21 with medical and fitness testing.  The first day of on-ice workouts in the OhioHealth Ice Haus will be Thursday, September 22. The club plays its first preseason games on Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena against the Pittsburgh Penguins and 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena against the Pittsburgh Penguins in split-squad back-to-back games.
