Texas Rangers News: Reinstate RHP’s Spencer Howard and Dennis Santana from injured list

RHP Spencer Patton placed on Injured List, RHP Nick Snyder optioned

**Oakland, Calif. — ** The Texas Rangers Sunday announced the following roster moves prior to Sunday’s series finale:

  • RHP Spencer Howard reinstated from 10-day Injured List.
  • RHP Dennis Santana reinstated from COVID-19 Related Injured List.
  • RHP Spencer Patton placed on 10-day Injured List with right oblique strain.
  • RHP Nick Snyder optioned to Round Rock (AAA).

Howard was placed on the 10-day Injured List on April 14, retroactive to April 11, with a cracked finger nail/blister following his season debut as the starter on April 10 at TOR (3.0 IP, 6 R-ER). The right-hander is expected to make his second appearance of the season in today’s road trip finale in Oakland. Howard is in his second season with the Rangers since being acquired in a six-player trade with Philadelphia on July 30, 2021.

Santana was placed on the COVID-19 Related Injured List on April 14. Prior to that placement, the right-hander appeared in three of the team’s first four games of the season and allowed one run in 3.1 innings. Santana is in his first full season with the Rangers in 2022 after being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a mid-season trade on June 17, 2021.

Patton has posted a 3.86 ERA (3 ER/7.0 IP) over seven relief outings for Texas since being recalled from Round Rock on April 9. This is his first injured list stint at the Major League level. The 34-year-old right-hander has made 49 total relief appearances for Texas since returning to the organization in 2021.

Snyder allowed 2 runs in 1.0 inning spanning two relief outings for the Rangers during his first Major League stint of the season (April 15-23). The right-hander began the campaign at Triple-A, posting 2.0 scoreless innings and one save in two games for the Round Rock Express.
