Cincinnati Reds News: Homestand Highlights – April 22-28 with Cardinals and Padres visiting

Friday, April 22, 2022 – Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals, 6:40 p.m. (gates open at 5:10 p.m.)

• TV: Apple TV+ Friday Night Baseball, presented by CueHealth (Watch Friday Night Baseball games free for a limited time, without an Apple TV+ subscription at www.apple.co/Reds

• Radio: 700WLW and stations on the Reds Radio Network (Tommy Thrall & Chris Welsh)

• Fireworks Friday: Rozzi’s fireworks show presented by PNC Bank to begin shortly after the game ends.

• Jackie Robinson Day: In partnership with The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African-American Chamber, local leaders will be honored and recognized during pregame ceremonies. Jackie Robinson Day messaging and videoboard graphics will be featured during the game. (The Reds wore #42 jerseys vs. Dodgers on April 15, the MLB’s official Jackie Robinson Day)

• Bengals Ceremonial Pitches: Cincinnati Bengals players Eli Apple, Vonn Bell and Trey Hendrickson will throw out simultaneous ceremonial pitches. 

• Wilberforce Ceremonial Pitch: Wilberforce University athletic director Derek Williams is scheduled to throw a ceremonial pitch to the school’s director of baseball operations, Roosevelt Barnes. Located just outside Xenia, Wilberforce is the nation’s oldest, private, historically Black university and, with the support of the Reds Community Fund, is relaunching its baseball program this fall after a hiatus of more than 75 years. 

Saturday, April 23, 2022 – Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals, 4:10 p.m. (gates open at 1:30 p.m. – time approximate)

• TV: Bally Sports Ohio (John Sadak, Barry Larkin & Jim Day) 

• Radio: 700WLW and stations on the Reds Radio Network (Tommy Thrall & Chris Welsh)

• Kids Opening Day: Fans should arrive early for Kids Opening Day presented by Frisch’s Big Boy. Festivities are scheduled to include Reds players and local mascots walking the red carpet starting at 11:15 a.m. More information on Kids Opening Day activities is available at www.reds.com/KidsOpeningDay.

• Kids Reds Cap Giveaway: Fans 14 and younger at the game will receive a kids cap, presented by Frisch’s Big Boy, while supplies last.

• Reds Calendar: Fans attending the game will receive a 2022 Reds calendar, presented by Kroger, while supplies last.

• Kids Run the Bases: Kids can line up after the game to run the bases, with line priority for Reds Heads kids club members. 

Sunday, April 24, 2022 – Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals, 1:40 p.m. (gates open at 12:10 p.m.)

• Rosie Red Wall Decal: As part of Family Sundays at the ballpark, kids 14 and younger will receive a Rosie Red Wall Decal, presented by Texas Roadhouse.

• Reds Futures High School Showcase “March at the Majors”: Players and coaches from 86 high school baseball and softball teams who are participating in the 11th annual Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase presented by Cincinnati Children’s Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics will be featured in a “March at the Majors” pregame parade. This year’s showcase features 81 Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Southeast Indiana and Dayton schools playing games from April 9 to May 14.

• Run the Bases: Fans of all ages can line up after the game to run the bases, presented by Raising Cane’s. Reds Heads Kids Club members will have a priority line. 

Tuesday, April 26, 2022 – Reds vs. San Diego Padres, 6:40 p.m. (gates open at 5:40 p.m.)

• Baseball For All: Teddy Kremer will offer up a ceremonial pitch for tonight’s “Baseball for All” pregame ceremony to raise awareness and celebrate the lives of those living with varying abilities.

• American Red Cross Ceremony: Pregame ceremonies will highlight the American Red Cross and its efforts to help support the global Red Cross movement to provide humanitarian relief to people facing immediate needs in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

• Reds Workmanship Program: Recent graduates of the Reds Workmanship Program will be honored during pregame ceremonies. The trade development program brings people with diverse backgrounds to Great American Ball Park for four months of training in fields involved in maintaining and improving the ballpark. The program was launched in 2022 by the Reds and FX Facilities, a division of D.E. Foxx and Associates, the region’s second-largest minority-owned business.
