Miami RedHawks Football News: Announces Six Transfer Additions

The Miami University football team has announced six additions to its squad via the transfer portal. Joining the RedHawks for the 2022 season are John Brekke (Holy Cross), Michael Dowell (Michigan State), Nolan Johnson (East Carolina), Tre’von Morgan (Kentucky), Corey Suttle (Iowa State) and Ty Wise (Indiana).
 
John Brekke, R-Sr., OL, 6-3, 285, Chicago, Ill. (Loyola Academy)/Holy Cross
At Holy Cross: Started 14 games and saw action in 31 contests along the offensive line in his career … in 2021, he earned First-Team All-Patriot League honors, starting 10 contests … named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll from 2017-2020. High School: Played at Loyola Academy … coached by John Holecek … named second team All-State by the Chicago Tribune as a senior … earned first team All-Catholic League honors as a senior, after being a second team selection as a junior … helped lead team to the state championship in 2015, and a runner-up finish in 2016 … named Academic All-State by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association.
 
Michael Dowell, R-Jr., DB, 6-1, 215, North Ridgeville, Ohio (St. Edwards)/Michigan State
At MSU: Played in 19 games as a Spartan, including all 12 regular season games in 2021 … he made four starts, finishing the year with 40 tackles and three pass breakups from his nickelback position … made two starts as a redshirt-sophomore, recording 27 stops. High School: Played at St. Edwards High School … coached by Tom Lombardo … ranked the top safety prospect in the state of Ohio by ESPN.com and 247Sports . . . rated one of the top cornerbacks in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com (No. 2) . . . listed among the top players in the state of Ohio by 247Sports (No. 14), ESPN.com (No. 15) and Rivals.com (No. 18) … named first-team Division 1 all-state by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association as a senior . . . also a first-team All-Northeast Ohio Lakes District honoree . . . team captain helped lead the Eagles to a 10-2 record and a berth in the Division 1 regional semifinals.
 
Nolan Johnson, R-Jr., DB, 6-2, 194, High Point, NC (Southwest Guilford)/East Carolina
At ECU: Played in 36 games with the Pirates, registering 74 tackles in his career … saw action in all 12 games during the 2021 campaign. High School: A three-year starter and team captain at Southwest Guilford … coached by Eric Rainey … part of a Cowboys’ program which earned a runner-up finish in the Piedmont Triad 3A Conference (5-1 record) and advanced to the second round of the NCHSAA 3A Playoffs … earned invitation to represent North Carolina in the prestigious Shrine Bowl and participated at the 2017 Nike Combine … also lettered in track.
 
Tre’von Morgan, R-So., WR, 6-6, 218, Massillon, Ohio (Massillon Washington)/Kentucky
Prior to Miami: Spent the 2021 season at Kentucky and was at Michigan State from 2019-20 … caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown for the Spartans in 2020. High School: Played at Massillon Washington High School … coached by Nate Moore … ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com and ESPN.com in 2018 … listed among the top wide receivers in the nation by Rivals.com (No. 44) and 247Sports (No. 73) and ranked one of the best overall prospects in Ohio by Rivals.com (No. 9), 247Sports (No. 23) and ESPN.com (No. 27) … team went 14-1 overall his senior year and average 44.7 points per game and 416.3 yards of total offense … team competed in the state championship game in 2018 … named to the 2018 Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association All-State Third Team in Division II.
 
Corey Suttle, R-So., DL, 6-4, 247, Jefferson City, Mo. (Jefferson City)/Iowa State
At Iowa State: Saw action in 14 games over a two-year span for the Cyclones, recording five tackles. High School: Played at Jefferson City High School … coached by Terry Walker … ranked as the No. 515 player nationally and No. 33 strong-side defensive end by 247Sports … rated as the 12th-best player in Missouri by 247Sports and No. 14 by ESPN … two-time all-district selection … also played on the offensive line and tight end as a senior … registered over 50 tackles and 10.0 TFL in 2018 … as a junior, recorded 59 tackles, 18.0 TFL.
 
Ty Wise, So., LB, 6-2, 226, Carmel, Ind. (Carmel)/Indiana
At Indiana: Appeared in 10 games, mostly on special teams… finished the year with three tackles … he redshirted for the Hoosiers back in 2020. High School: Played at Carmel High School … coached by John Hebert … 2019 Mr. Football finalist … named the Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) position award winner (linebacker) … IFCA Top 50 selection as a senior … two-time all-state honoree … named to the 2019 IndyStar Super Team … made 112 tackles, 20 for loss, with six sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles his senior year … led Carmel to the 2019 6A state championship … ranked the No. 7 prospect in Indiana and the No. 72 outside linebacker by 247Sports.
