Laine out, Werenski injured early in Jackets 6-4 loss at Anaheim; Ducks goalie Gibson wins for first time in 13 starts

ANAHEIM — John Gibson made 31 saves to earn his first win since March 1, and the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-4 at Honda Center on Sunday.

Gibson had gone 0-10-3 in his previous 13 starts.

Troy Terry had two goals and an assist. He has 36 goals for the season. The most by an Anaheim player since Corey Perry’s 43 in 2013-14. Derek Grant had a goal and two assists, and Trevor Zegras, Cam Fowler, and Gerry Mayhew each had a goal and an assist for the Ducks who are 2-1-2 in their past five. Overall, the Ducks are having an up and down season at 30-33-14.

*J-F Berube was in goal and made 26 saves. His his first start since Feb. 25

*The Jackets are 35-35-6

Columbus’ Patrik Laine did not play because of an upper-body injury, and Zach Werenski sustained an upper-body injury in the opening minutes and did not return.

Laine leads the Blue Jackets in goals (26) and points (56), and Werenski leads their defenseman with 47 points (11 goals, 36 assists).

GAME NOTES

* Ryan Getlaf of the Ducks, who is retiring after the season, had two assists for his 259th multipoint game with Anaheim, tying Teemu Selanne for the most in its history. He is 36.

*Zegras has 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists) in 70 games this season, tying Bobby Ryan for the most by a rookie in Ducks history.

*Columbus goalie Elvis Mertzlikins who had the night off, was the starting goalie the previous 11 games.
