Cincinnati Reds News: 2022 Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase

86 local baseball and softball teams to compete April 9 to May 14

The 11th annual Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase presented by Cincinnati Children’s Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics will feature 86 high school baseball and softball teams from 81 Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Southeast Indiana and Dayton schools playing 45 games from April 9 to May 14, 2022.

The Showcase kicks off with Opening Weekend at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy featuring five baseball games on April 9 and two softball games on Sunday, April 10 for the second annual Gabby Rodriguez Day.

On April 16, the Showcase will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day by hosting teams from nine Cincinnati Public Schools playing at the Reds Youth Academy. Players will wear “42” jerseys in honor of Robinson, who broke baseball’s color barrier 75 years ago in 1947.

Games will be played at five regional collegiate fields including Wright State’s Nischwitz Stadium, Xavier’s Hayden Field, Miami’s McKie Field at Hayden Park and Univ. of Cincinnati’s UC Baseball Stadium.

Ten teams are scheduled to play at Great American Ball Park during “Big League Weekend” on May 13 & 14.

Showcase tickets are $5 each and are available at the scheduled ballpark on game days. With each Showcase ticket purchased, fans will receive a voucher good for one free View Level ticket to a select 2022 Reds game and a coupon good for one free Skyline Chili Cheese Coney at participating restaurants, while supplies last.

All participating Showcase teams will be invited to Great American Ball Park on Sunday, April 24 to participate in the “March at the Majors” pre-game parade prior to the Reds vs. Cardinals game. The Showcase’s Most Valuable Players will be invited back to GABP to receive their commemorative bats before a game to be announced later.
