Columbus Crew 2 News: Team signs defender/midfielder Ryan Telfer

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew 2 announced earlier in April that it has signed defender and midfielder Ryan Telfer to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Telfer joins Crew 2 after spending the 2021 season with Atletico Ottawa of the Canadian Premier League. During his time in Ottawa, the 28-year-old made 16 appearances, registering three goals. His previous experience includes playing for Toronto FC (2018-201); USL side Toronto FC II (2017-2018); Cyprus’ First Division club Nea Salamis Famagusta FC (2020); and Canadian Premier League side York United FC (2020).

At the international level, Telfer has represented the Trinidad and Tobago National Team, earning 18 caps while scoring seven goals and providing three assists. He most recently started in a 2022 international friendly against Barbados, recording a brace and registering an assist in a 9-0 victory (March 25).
