COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s basketball program, in conjunction with senior guard Taylor Mikesell, announced that Mikesell would be returning to Ohio State for the 2022-23 season to use her fifth and final year of eligibility. Mikesell transferred to Ohio State in the summer of 2021 and just completed her first season with the team.

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome Taylor Mikesell back for another season,” said Head Coach Kevin McGuff. “She’s obviously a terrific player and an even better person. Looking forward to another impactful season from her!”

Mikesell is one of five national finalists for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award for the best female shooting guard in the country. She is also a region finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association All-America Team and was voted onto the All-Big Ten First Team by both the Big Ten coaches and media panels. Mikesell earned a spot on the Big Ten weekly honor roll three times this season.

Mikesell led the Big Ten and was second in the country in three-point percentage (.475), three-pointers per game (3.6) and three-pointers made (114). She has the highest career three-point percentage mark in program history and is second on the program’s single-season three-point percentage list. Among the Buckeyes’ all-time three-pointers made list, Mikesell is tied for 16th despite only being at Ohio State for one season so far. Her 114 three-pointers ranks fifth on the OSU single-season list, trailing only Kelsey Mitchell in each of her four seasons.

Mikesell is one of only five players in program history to shoot 1.000 from three-point range in a game with at least five makes, going 5-of-5 on Jan. 20 against Maryland. She was one triple shy of the single game record as she made a career-high eight three-pointers on Jan. 6 against Illinois. That was the ninth time in program history that a player has made at least eight triples in a game. Mikesell accounted for 43 percent of the team’s three-pointers this season as she ended the season with 596 points, averaging 18.6 points per game.
