COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Adam Boqvist off Injured Reserve, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Boqvist, 21, has missed the past 11 games with an upper body injury suffered vs. Pittsburgh on February 27.  He has recorded 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points with 10 penalty minutes in 40 games in his first season with the Blue Jackets in 2021-22.  He is the sixth different blueliner in franchise history to record 10 goals in a single season.  The 6-0, 189-pound defenseman made his Columbus debut in the season opener vs. Arizona on October 14 and tallied his first goal vs. Detroit on November 15.

A native of Falun, Sweden, Boqvist was acquired by the Blue Jackets from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade on July 23, 2021.  Originally drafted by Chicago in the first round, eighth overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft, he has registered 16-32-48 and 30 penalty minutes in 116 career appearances with the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks since making his NHL debut in 2019-20.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday, March 25 when they visit the Winnipeg Jets.  Game time from Canada Life Centre is 8 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Ohio and streamed on the Bally Sports app.  Coverage begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 7:30 p.m. ET.  The game can also be heard on the Columbus Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, and online at bluejackets.com.
