#21 Xavier stays on road for today’s matchup in Omaha against Creighton, 2 PM

CINCINNATI — The No. 21 Xavier University Musketeers, 14-5 overall and 4-4 in the BIG EAST Conference, are shooting to bounce back from a last-second 65-62 loss to No. 17 Providence on Wednesday when they travel to Omaha, Neb., this weekend. XU takes on the Creighton University Bluejays, 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the BIG EAST, at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Saturday’s game is the third road game for the Musketeers in four games.

Xavier, 14-5 overall and 4-4 in the BIG EAST Conference, is shooting to bounce back from a last-second 65-62 loss to No. 17 Providence on Wednesday.
• Xavier is ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. XU is 21st in the NCAA NET and 25th in KenPom.
• Xavier completes a stretch of three out of four games on the road with the game at Creighton . XU is 3-2 in true road games, including 2-2 in the BIG EAST.
• Xavier has four players averaging in double figures in scoring from 10.7 ppg. to 12.5 ppg. and have had eight different players lead the team in scoring this season.
• Xavier junior Jack Nunge leads the team in scoring at 12.5 ppg., including his 23-point effort at DePaul that included 13 points in the final seven minutes.
• Xavier senior Nate Johnson, who is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.7 ppg., is sixth in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals at 2.3 per game.
• Xavier senior Paul Scruggs is now 20th on Xavier’s all-time scoring list with 1,462 points and ninth on Xavier’s all-time assist leaders chart with 455.
• Xavier sophomore Colby Jones, who is third in the BIG EAST in rebounding (8.2 rpg.), is fifth in the BIG EAST in offensive rebounding (2.9 rpg.). He grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds vs. Providence, his sixth double-figure rebound game this season.
• Xavier junior Zach Freemantle, preseason First Team All-BIG EAST, posted his first double-double of the season and ninth of his career with 13 points and 11 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 15. He missed the first six games following foot surgery.
