Columbus Blue Jackets News: PLACE FORWARD JAKUB VORACEK ON COVID-19 PROTOCOL LIST, ACTIVATE FORWARD ALEXANDRE TEXIER

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed right wing Jakub Voracek in the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol and activated forward Alexandre Texier, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Voracek, 32, has registered one goal and 24 assists for 25 points with 12 penalty minutes, 10 power play assists and 20 primary assists, while averaging 17:00 of ice time in 34 outings this season.  The 6-2, 209-pound forward, who became the 361st player in NHL history to skate in his 1,000th career game on January 6 at New Jersey, is tied for the NHL lead in primary assists and ranks eighth-T in PP assists in 2021-22. 

The Kladno, Czech Republic native was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the first round, seventh overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft.  He spent his first three seasons with the club before joining the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade prior to the 2011-12 season.  He was reacquired by Columbus in a trade with the Flyers on July 24, 2021.  Voracek has racked up 217-546-763 and 493 penalty minutes in 1,002 career games with the Blue Jackets and Flyers since making his NHL debut in 2008-09.

Texier, 22, who was placed into the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol on January 7, has tallied a career-high 11-8-19 with six penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 30 games this season.  He ranks second-T on the team in goals and plus/minus rating and fifth in points.  Despite missing the past four games, he leads Columbus in goals and points since November 6 with 9-8-17 and a +6 plus/minus rating in 21 outings. 

A native of Saint-Martin-d’Heres, France, Texier was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round, 45th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.  The 6-1, 186-pound forward has registered 22-26-48 and 38 penalty minutes in 117 games since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes.  Game time from PNC Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be televised exclusively to a national audience on ESPN+ and Hulu.  The game can also be heard on the Columbus Blue Jackets Radio Network, including 105.7 FM in Columbus, and online at bluejackets.com
