Blue Jackets assign Jake Christiansen to Cleveland Monsters

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Jake Christiansen to the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. 

Christiansen, 22, originally was recalled by Columbus on December 10, but did not appear in a game with the club before.  He has posted 5-13-18, 17 penalty minutes and 62 shots in 21 appearances with Cleveland this season.  At the time of his first recall, he led all AHL blueliners in goals (tied) and shots and ranked second in points and third in assists.  The 6-0, 186-pound defenseman has recorded 8-25-33 and 31 penalty minutes in 58 career AHL games with the Monsters and Stockton Heat since making his pro debut in 2019-20.  A native of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Christiansen totaled 50-102-152, 114 penalty minutes, 18 power play goals and a cumulative +84 plus/minus rating in 297 career games with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League from 2015-20. 

The Blue Jackets are scheduled to return to action on Monday, December 27 when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Ohio and streamed on the Bally Sports app.  Coverage begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The game may also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station Sports Radio 97.1 FM in Columbus.
