The Cleveland Browns, coming off of two straight losses to the LA Chargers and Arizona Cardinals, will be playing in a short week. They just played on Sunday and now, with three days of practice, will play in the Thursday Night feature game tonight at 8:20 against an old nemesis, the Denver Broncos.
And they will have to play with out some key players; QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder), RB Nick Chubb (calf) and CB A.J. Green (shoulder/groin).
And don’t forget, RB Kareem Hunt (calf), who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Early Wednesday morning, the Browns named veteran Case Keenum as their starting quarterback for Thursday’s game Keenum is well seasoned having played for Houston twice, LA Rams/St. Louis Rams twice, Minnesota, Denver and Washington. With that announcement of the switch in starting quarterbacks, it officially ended Mayfield’s streak of starting 51 consecutive games dating back to 2018. That streak was the second-longest in Browns history, trailing only ‘Kardiac Kids’ QB Brian Sipe (70).
