OREGON POSTGAME NOTES: #12 OREGON 35, #3 OHIO STATE 28

TEAM
» Beat Ohio State for the first time in program history (winless in nine previous meetings).
» Knocked off a top-three team for the fifth time in school history and the first time since 2011 (at Stanford, Nov. 12, 2011).
» First road win over a top-five team since beating Stanford in 2011.
» Beat a top-five team for the eighth time in program history.
» Snapped Ohio State’s 23-game home winning streak, handing the Buckeyes their first loss in Ohio Stadium since Sept. 9, 2017.
» Won fourth game in a row against a Big Ten opponent.
» Picked up the program’s 22nd all-time win against a current Big Ten member.
» Improved to 13-0 when rushing for at least 200 yards under head coach Mario Cristobal.
» Moved to 16-2 under Cristobal when winning the turnover battle.
» Three more freshmen saw playing time, bringing the total to 27 that have gotten in through two games, including 12 true freshmen.
» The crowd of 100,482 is the fourth-largest that Oregon has played in front of in program history.

OFFENSE
» Ran for 269 yards and three TDs on 38 attempts, averaging 7.1 yards per carry.
» Threw for 236 yards to finish with 505 yards of total offense.
» Most rushing yards by any team against Ohio State in Ohio Stadium since Nov. 22, 2014 (Indiana).
» Just the third team since 2000 to both throw and rush for over 225 yards in a game against Ohio State.
» Only the second team since 2000 and the first since 2012 to put up at least 500 yards of offense vs. the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium.
» Averaging 148.0 yards on the ground in the second half after going for 167 on the ground after the break.
» 11 different receivers caught a pass, with each having at least one reception of at least 10 yards and a first down.
» The 99-yard TD drive was the first since Sept. 8, 2018 vs. Portland State.

DEFENSE
» Came up with three huge fourth down stops, holding the Buckeyes to 2-for-5. Also held Ohio State to 6-for-15 on third down.
» Recorded each of the team’s two sacks on the last two drives of the game.
» Two players got their first career starts (Keith Brown, Bradyn Swinson), making it four players on defense who have made their starting debuts this season.

» Led the team with a career-high 10 tackles, including four solo stops.

6 WR JAYLON REDD

» Caught two passes for 27 yards, moving into 16th on Oregon’s all-time career receptions list with 121.
» Has a reception in 24 straight games.

7 RB CJ VERDELL

» Ran for 161 yards and two TDs on 20 carries while catching three passes for 34 yards and a TD.
» Surpassed 150 yards on the ground for the fifth time in his career.
» Fifth career game with multiple rushing TDs.
» 77-yard TD run in the third quarter was his sixth career rush of 70 yards or more.
» Moved into a tie for ninth all-time at Oregon with 24 career rushing TDs.
» Hauled in third career receiving TD on a 14-yard reception in the second quarter.
» Third career game with both a rushing and receiving TD.
» Moved into a tie for seventh on the UO career rushing list with 2,758 yards, matching Sean Burwell (1990-93).
» Ran for over 100 yards in a game for the 11th time in his career, tying him for the fifth most in school history.
» Team is 11-1 in his career when Verdell runs for 100 yards in a game.

» First career reception came on a 14-yard score in the fourth quarter.

12 TE DJ JOHNSON

» Hauled in an 11-yard reception to convert a third down on Oregon’s final drive, then recorded a sack on the last play of the game.
» Only Oregon player to record a sack and have a reception in a game since 2000.

13 QB ANTHONY BROWN

» Threw for 236 yards and two TDs on 17-of-35 passing while rushing for 65 yards on 10 carries.
» 12 of his 18 completions went for first downs.
» 121 rushing yards on the year are the second-most by an Oregon QB through two starts as a Duck (Tyler Shough, 166 yards).
» Second Oregon QB to run for over 50 yards in their first two starts (Shough).
» Just the 10th QB since 2000 to throw for over 200 yards and rush for 50 in a game against Ohio State.

15 S BENNETT WILLIAMS

» Second on the team with eight tackles while adding a TFL.
» Eight tackles are the most he’s had in his Oregon career.

23 S VERONE MCKINLEY III

» Recorded six tackles while coming away with an INT, forcing a fumble and breaking up two passes.
» Came away with sixth career INT, picking off a pass late in the fourth quarter.
» Just the second Oregon player since 2000 and the first since 2007 to finish with an INT, forced fumble and multiple pass breakups in a game (Jairus Byrd).
» Reached 100 career tackles following his second tackle of the game and now has 104 for his career.

26 RB TRAVIS DYE

» Ran for 43 yards and a TD on eight carries while catching a pass for 10 yards.
» Scored his seventh career rushing TD and 13th total touchdown on a 5-yard score in the third quarter.
» Team is 10-1 in the 11 games in which he has scored a TD in his career.
» Ran for a TD in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
