LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler and infielder Justin Turner were named to the 2021 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will take place on July 13 at Coors Field in Denver, CO. Buehler and Turner will join teammates Max Muncy and Chris Taylor at the 91st MLB mid-summer classic active roster, while outfielder Mookie Betts will not participate in the game.
Buehler, 26, will be making his second trip to the Midsummer Classic and is 8-1 on the season with a 2.49 ERA (30 ER/108.1 IP) and 107 strikeouts. The right-hander ranks amongst the National League leaders in wins (T-5th), innings pitched (4th), ERA (7th), WHIP (7th, 0.92) and strikeouts (16th). The Kentucky native tied a franchise record on June 19 against Arizona, going 23 straight starts without dropping a decision and matching Kirby Higbe for the all-time mark in Dodger history. In his Dodger career, he is 32-10 with a 3.00 ERA (158 ER/474.0 IP) and 527 strikeouts.
Turner, 36, will make his second trip to the All-Star Game after winning the Major League Final Vote in 2017. The infielder is having a career year, slashing .302/.391/.881 with 14 homers and 45 RBI this season. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak, hitting safely in all seven games he has recorded an at bat this month and batting .466 (13-for-28) with two homers and five RBI in the month of July. Since the month of June, Turner is batting .355 (39-for-110) with five homers and 17 RBI.
Los Angeles will have five players named to the All-Star Game, four active which are the most in the National League.
