NEW YORK (May 25, 2021) – Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Florida Panthers forward Mason Marchment during Game 5 of the teams’ First Round series in Sunrise, Fla., on Monday, May 24, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 7:16 of the first period. McDonagh was assessed a minor penalty for roughing.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
