NHL suspends Rangers’ Pavel Buchnevich for High Sticking

NEW YORK (May 6, 2021) – New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich has been suspended for one game, without pay, for high-sticking Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha during NHL Game No. 830 in New York on Wednesday, May 5, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 4:39 of the second period. Buchnevich was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for cross-checking.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Buchnevich will forfeit $28,017.24. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
