MLS Cup Champion Columbus Crew SC announces 2021 Promotional Calendar

Crew SC promotional calendar features final home matches at Historic Crew Stadium before opening of world-class venue in July;
Black & Gold also holding open call for anthem singers for matches held at New Crew Stadium

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today released information on several matchday promotions set to take place during the 2021 Major League Soccer regular season at both Historic Crew Stadium and New Crew Stadium. This year is highlighted by the Farewell to Historic Crew Stadium promotion (June 19) as well as the New Crew Stadium Inaugural Match (July 3). This season also features the return of popular theme nights such as Post-Match Fireworks and Military Appreciation Night.

In addition to its promotional calendar, the Club also announced that it will host an open call for anthem singers for matches held at New Crew Stadium. Individuals interested in trying out may fill out an online application via the following link:  

The Club’s promotional calendar begins on Sunday, April 18 when Crew SC faces the Philadelphia Union in Opening Match. That night will see the Crew hold a 2020 MLS Cup celebration – which will include a 15-foot inflatable MLS Cup trophy on site – as well as a Crew Flag Giveaway presented by Nationwide. Saturday, May 29 sees the return of Pride Night to Historic Crew Stadium during the Black & Gold’s match against Toronto FC. On Saturday, June 19, the Club is set to hold its Farewell to Historic Crew Stadium during the match against long-time Eastern Conference rival Chicago Fire FC.

The Crew kicks-off the month July with its New Crew Stadium Inaugural Match on Saturday, July 3, which will also feature Post-Match Fireworks. On Saturday, August 7, the Black & Gold will hold their Military Appreciation Match during the Crew’s match against Atlanta United. Crew SC then faces Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, August 21 in a match presented by OhioHealth. The Club closes the month of August with he “Hell is Real” derby against in-state rivals FC Cincinnati on Friday, August 27.

Crew SC is set to celebrate Columbus’ local Hispanic community on Tuesday, September 14, when it hosts the New York Red Bulls on Hispanic Heritage Night. On Saturday, September 25, the Crew will host Kick Childhood Cancer Night. That evening will feature several initiatives aimed at increasing pediatric cancer awareness while recognizing children who have been directly impacted by cancer as well as their families. In October, the Black & Gold are set to hold Pediatric Mental & Behavioral Health Awareness Night, presented by Nationwide Children’s Hospital during their contest against Inter Miami CF on Saturday, October 16. The promotion is designed to support the mission of On Our Sleeves, Nationwide Children’s Hospital movement to transform children’s mental health.

Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer. Crew SC is operated by The Edwards Family and Haslam Sports Group. The Black & Gold are the 2020 MLS Cup Champions. The Club won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2020 campaign was the Crew’s 25th season in MLS and the 21st season at Historic Crew Stadium — the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States.
