Columbus Blue Jackets make roster moves

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Boone Jenner on Injured Reserve, recalled forwards Alexandre Texier, Liam Foudy and Stefan Matteau from the taxi squad and added forward Kole Sherwood to the taxi squad from the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. 

Jenner, who suffered a broken finger on Tuesday vs. Tampa Bay, underwent successful surgery today to repair the injury on Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined approximately six weeks.  The Dorchester, Ontario native has tallied eight goals and nine assists for 17 points with six penalty minutes, while playing in all 41 games for the Blue Jackets this season.  The 27-year-old has recorded 121-119-240 and 309 penalty minutes in 530 career games with the Blue Jackets since making his NHL debut in 2013-14.

Foudy, 21, has registered 0-3-3 with six penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 17 games with the Blue Jackets this season and added 1-3-4 and a +2 plus/minus rating in four games with the Monsters.  The 6-2, 193-pound forward has recorded 0-4-4, six penalty minutes and a cumulative +1 plus/minus rating in 19 career regular season games with the club since making his NHL debut in 2019-20.  The Scarborough, Ontario native, who added 1-1-2 in 10 outings during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, was selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, 18th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft.

Matteau, 27, has recorded two penalty minutes in six games with the club this season.  He has registered 5-5-10 with 34 penalty minutes in 79 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils since making his League debut in 2012-13.  The 6-2, 208-pound forward was signed by Columbus to a two-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract on Feb. 19, 2020 and tallied 2-1-3 and five penalty minutes in nine outings with the club in 2019-20.  The Chicago, Illinois native was selected by New Jersey in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Texier, 21, has notched 4-9-13 and 14 penalty minutes in 37 games with Columbus this season.  He has collected 11-16-27, 24 penalty minutes and a cumulative +2 plus/minus rating in 75 contests with the club since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.  He led club rookies in shooting percentage (12.2) and ranked third in goals (tied), assists and points with 6-7-13 in 36 appearances in 2019-20.  The 6-1, 186-pound native of St. Martin D’heres, France was selected by Columbus in the second round, 45th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.

Sherwood, 24, has tallied 3-1-4 with 17 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in nine games with Cleveland this season and has 29-13-42 and 144 penalty minutes in 110 career AHL games over the past four seasons.  The New Albany, Ohio native has collected two penalty minutes in five career NHL games with the Blue Jackets.  He appeared in two games with Columbus during the 2018-19 season, including his NHL debut at Chicago on Feb. 16, 2019, and logged three games with the club during the 2019-20 campaign.  Prior to turning pro, he registered 75-104-179 and 169 penalty minutes in 180 games with London, Flint and Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League from 2015-18.
