Blue Jackets center Boone Jenner out six weeks with broken finger

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets center Boone Jenner underwent successful surgery today to repair his broken finger and is expected to be sidelined approximately six weeks, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced.  Jenner suffered the injury in the third period of Tuesday’s game vs. Tampa Bay. 

Jenner has recorded eight goals and nine assists for 17 points with six penalty minutes, while playing in all 41 games for the Blue Jackets this season.  He leads the club in faceoff percentage (55.1 pct.), ranks third in blocked shots (53), fourth in goals and is tied for fifth in hits (76).  He became the ninth player in club history to skate in 500 career Blue Jackets games on February 2 vs. Dallas. 

The 27-year-old has recorded 121-119-240 and 309 penalty minutes in 530 career games with the Blue Jackets since making his NHL debut in 2013-14.  The Dorchester, Ontario native was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round, 37th overall, at the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Puck drop from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.  Live coverage on Bally Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m.  All Blue Jackets games televised on Bally Sports Ohio will also be streamed live via the Bally Sports app.  The game may also be heard on the Eldorado Scioto Downs Blue Jackets Radio Network, including Sports Radio 97.1 FM in Columbus, and online at
