Raiders will host Quarterfinal game on March 2 |
DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State men’s basketball team clinched at least a share of the Horizon League regular season championship for the third consecutive season on Saturday night, and found out later in the evening that it will be the No. 2 seed for the 2021 Horizon League Championship that begins next week, based off tiebreaker procedures, the League announced late Saturday night.
Under the current neutral-site championship format introduced in 2016, the No. 1 seed has not won a Horizon League tournament title.
The Raiders (18-5) will await the second-lowest remaining seed following the first-round matchups on February 25 and host that team at the Nutter Center in quarterfinal action on March 2 at 7 p.m., with the broadcast on ESPN+.
First-round action includes No. 5 Detroit Mercy hosting No. 12 Robert Morris, No. 6 Youngstown State hosting 11th-seeded UIC, No. 7 Green Bay hosting 10th-seeded Purdue Fort Wayne and No. 8 Milwaukee hosting No. 9 IUPUI.
Along with the Raiders, No. 1-seeded Cleveland State, No. 3 Oakland and No. 4 Northern Kentucky await their quarterfinal opponents.
Quarterfinal round winners will advance to Indianapolis for the semifinals on March 8 and the championship on March 9.
