Columbus Blue Jackets announce Roster Moves

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  JANUARY 11, 2021

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced several roster moves today:

The Blue Jackets have placed forward Gus Nyquist on Injured Reserve.  Nyquist underwent shoulder surgery on November 3 and is expected to be sidelined five to six months from that date.

The club has reassigned goaltender Veini Vehvilainen from JYP (Liiga/Finland) to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate.

The team also placed the following players on waivers:  defenseman Gavin Bayreuther, defenseman Adam Clendening, forward Zac Dalpe, forward Nathan Gerbe, goaltender Cam Johnson, forward Stefan Matteau and forward Ryan MacInnis.

The club released the following players from the training camp roster:  forward Tyler Angle, forward Justin Scott, defenseman Thomas Schemitsch and goaltender Brad Thiessen.

The Blue Jackets open the 2020-21 season on Thursday when they visit the Nashville Predators.  Game time from Bridgestone Arena is 8 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Ohio and the FOX Sports Go app with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the “Blue Jackets Live” pre-game show.  The contest will also be broadcast on the Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan.
