Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Cabrera disciplined; will appeal

Génesis Cabrera

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Génesis Cabrera has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his on-field actions, which caused a benches-clearing incident, during the bottom of the seventh inning of Saturday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Michael Hill, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.

The suspension of Cabrera had been scheduled to begin today, when the two Clubs are to conclude their series in Tampa Bay. However, Cabrera has elected to file an appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until the appeal process is complete.
