New York Mets News: pitcher Johan Ramírez disciplined

Yohan Ramírez

New York Mets pitcher Yohan Ramírez has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing at Rhys Hoskins of the Milwaukee Brewers during the top of the seventh inning of Saturday afternoon’s game at Citi Field. Michael Hill, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.

In addition, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has received a one-game suspension and a fine as a result of Ramírez’s actions.

The suspension of Ramírez had been scheduled to begin today, when the two Clubs are to conclude their series in New York. However, Ramírez has elected to file an appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until the appeal process is complete.

Mendoza served his suspension March 31.
