COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following the first 300-yard passing performance on his young career, Ohio State’s Julian Sayin has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Sayin, a sophomore academically and redshirt freshman eligibility-wise, was 18-of-19 for 306 yards and four touchdowns in last Saturday’s 70-0 win over Grambling. He completed 16 consecutive passes to start the game – an Ohio State record – and had scoring strikes of 47, 87, 13 and nine yards, respectively. Sayin led Ohio State to scores on five of its six first-half drives.

Through two games, Sayin leads in the Big Ten in completion percentage (79.5) and is third in quarterback rating (209.7). He and the top-ranked Buckeyes (2-0) return to action on Saturday verses Ohio (1-1) at Ohio Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on Peacock. This week’s game theme is Buckeyes for a Cancer Free World, which will honor the more than 18 million U.S. cancer survivors.
