COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will play North Carolina in the 2025 CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 20 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Ga. The game will be part of a doubleheader with St. John’s and Kentucky squaring off in the other matchup. Game times will be announced at a later date.
The Buckeyes are 6-4 over their 10 appearances in the event. The 6-4 mark is the second-best record as North Carolina leads the way at 7-4. The Buckeyes have won five of their last six contests in the CBS Sports Classic but are 0-3 vs. North Carolina in the event.
Ohio State and North Carolina last met in 2022 in Madison Square Garden and the Tar Heels came away with an 89-84 overtime victory in what was a tremendous game. Buckeye freshman Brice Sensabaugh hit a jumper with three seconds remaining in regulation to give the Buckeyes a two-point lead only to see Pete Nance make a fall away jumper as time expired to send the game into overtime.
This past season, Bruce Thornton scored a then career-high 30 points to lead the Buckeyes to an emphatic 85-65 victory over No. 4 Kentucky inside Madison Square Garden. As a team, the Buckeyes shot 57 percent from the floor while holding Kentucky to a then season-worst 29.8 percent.
State Farm Arena will serve as host for the event for the second time in three years, having last hosted the event in 2023. The Buckeyes beat UCLA 67-60 that year behind a game-high 19 points from Roddy Gayle Jr.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase official travel packages for the CBS Sports Classic, which will include game tickets for both contests of the doubleheader and hotel accommodations near State Farm Arena. Fan travel packages are set to go on sale in August, allowing fans exclusive early access to secure their seats for the event ahead of the launch of public ticket sales. Tickets for the general public will go on sale later in August.
