Jasmyn Burns is one of five unanimous first team all-conference selections

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six members of the Ohio State softball team earned postseason recognition from the Big Ten Conference on Friday when the league announced its all-Big Ten teams and award winners.
Sophomore Jasmyn Burns was a unanimous first team selection while Kami Kortokrax, Reagan Milliken, Taylor Cruse and Skylar Limon earned second team recognition. Additionally, freshman Lorin Boutte was named to the All-Freshman Team. Kortokrax was the Buckeyes’ Sportsmanship Honoree.
Burns, who is one of 25 finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, hit .364 in 20 Big Ten games with six home runs, one double, 18 RBI and a .507 on-base percentage. She had five multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games in consecutive play, both of which were among the highest totals on the team. She was one of five unanimous first-team selections. Overall, Burns is among the Big Ten leaders in batting average (.467), RBI (70), home runs (23) and slugging percentage (1.026).
Kortokrax earned All-Big Ten honors for the third time in her career. She started all 22 conference games at shortstop and batted .284 with six home runs, 16 RBI and a .422 on-base percentage. Her six multi-hit games were the most on the team.
Milliken enjoyed a breakout season at first base, as the graduate student from Bethel Park, Pa. hit eight of her 17 home runs in conference play and added 24 runs batted in with a .296 batting average. In a 14-11 series-clinching win at Penn State, she tied Ohio State’s single-game record with three home runs and added a career-high five RBI.
Like Milliken, Cruse had a productive season as a first-year starter. A sophomore, she drive in a team-high 29 runs in conference play while hitting six home runs and batting .327. In a three-game series against Nebraska in March, she batted .556 with two home runs and eight RBI as the Buckeyes won two of three against the Cornhuskers.
Limon’s .409 batting average in conference play was the best on the team, and she earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors on April 21 after helping Ohio State to a three-game series sweep over Michigan by batting .500 with home runs in back-to-back games of a doubleheader. She also had seven extra base hits and 17 RBI in 19 Big Ten games.
Boutte was Ohio State’s leader in every pitching category this year, finishing the regular season with a 19-8 record while pitching 136.0 innings with 113 strikeouts and a 3.71 earned run average. In Big Ten play, she tossed a two-hitter against Indiana, which led the conference in batting average, on March 29. She allowed three or less earned runs in 10 of her 16 Big Ten appearances.
