LA Dodgers reinstate Shohei Ohtani

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated designated hitter Shohei Ohtani from the paternity list and designated outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment.

Ohtani, 30, returns to the lineup this afternoon and has played in 20 games for the Dodgers this season, slashing .288/.380/.550 with six homers and eight RBI. The 2024 National League MVP is in his second season with the Dodgers and has amassed 60 homers and 64 stolen bases in 179 games. He led the National League in 2024 with a 9.2 WAR, 731 plate appearances, 134 runs, 54 homers, 130 RBI, .390 OBP, .646 slugging percentage, 1.036 OPS and 190 OPS+. He is in his eighth season in the Major Leagues, and he is a .282 hitter with 231 homers and 575 RBI. Additionally, he is 38-19 with a 3.01 ERA on the mound in his Major League career. He was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on December 11, 2023.

Rosario, 33, played in two games for the Dodgers, recording one hit in four at-bats. The Puerto Rico native has been in the Majors 11 seasons with the Minnesota Twins (2015-20), Cleveland Guardians (2021), Atlanta Braves (2021-24), Washington Nationals (2024) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2025), hitting a combined .261 with 169 homers and 583 RBI. He was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft out of Rafael Lopez Landron High School (Guayama, Puerto Rico) by the Minnesota Twins.
