NEW YORK (April 16, 2025) – The Winnipeg Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck has won the 2024-25 William M. Jennings Trophy, presented annually since 1981-82 to the goaltender(s) who plays a minimum of 25 games for the team allowing the fewest goals during the regular season.

Winnipeg, which concluded its regular-season schedule tonight, yielded a League-low 191 goals (including shootout-deciding goals) to finish 10 clear of its nearest competition, the Los Angeles Kings (201) – who still have one game remaining in 2024-25.

Hellebuyck, who helped the Jets capture the award for the first time in 2023-24, is the fifth goaltender to win the William M. Jennings Trophy in consecutive seasons, following Brian Hayward (1986-87 – 1988-89 w/ MTL), Patrick Roy (1986-87 – 1988-89 w/ MTL), Martin Brodeur (1996-97 – 1997-98 and 2002-03 – 2003-04, both w/ NJD) and Roman Turek (1998-99 w/ DAL and 1999-00 w/ STL). Hellebuyck, however, is the first to repeat as the lone recipient in each campaign.

The 31-year-old Hellebuyck led the NHL with 47 victories – nine more than the next-closest goaltender through tonight’s slate – in 63 appearances (47-12-3). Only two netminders in League history have registered more wins in a single campaign: Brodeur (48 in 2006-07 w/ NJD) and Braden Holtby (48 in 2015-16 w/ WSH).

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner also became the fourth-fastest goaltender in NHL history to reach the 300-win milestone (538 GP on Jan. 7 vs. NSH); set franchise records for wins and shutouts (8) in a season; and posted the longest shutout sequence in Jets/Thrashers history (Nov. 3-9: 191:47).

Winnipeg is the first team to earn the William M. Jennings Trophy in consecutive seasons, regardless of its goaltender(s), since Brodeur guided the New Jersey Devils to wins in 2002-03 (split w/ PHI) and 2003-04. The Devils also were the last team to outright earn the award in two straight years, in 1996-97 (Brodeur and Mike Dunham) and 1997-98 (Brodeur).

The Jets finished 2024-25 with a franchise-record 10 shutouts, currently tied for the most in the NHL (w/ OTT). They allowed two or fewer goals (including shootout-deciding goals) in a League-best 46 of their 82 contests, and three or fewer goals 61 times – tied with the Kings for the most through tonight’s games.
