After setting a new Pro Volleyball Federation record with eight consecutive wins, the Orlando Valkyries (10-4) will look to continue charging ahead as they welcome the Columbus Fury (4-10) to Addition Financial Arena on Sunday night, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. ET. This match will mark the first of three that the Valkyries will play in a week’s span. This match will be nationally broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

Keys to the Match:

In their last matchup where Orlando won on the road in four sets, Columbus held Orlando to a .216 hitting percentage, while Orlando held Columbus to .197.

Even though Columbus is 4-10, they have won three of their last five matches, playing much better offensively as of late. Ranking fourth in the league in opponent hitting efficiency, they’ll need the defense to step up in order for them to take down Orlando.

Valkyries Players to Watch:

Brittany Abercrombie (Opposite)- The reigning PVF Player of the Week, Abercrombie has been on fire, recording 20+ kills in back-to-back matches. On the year, she ranks first in kills (245) and points (269), as she has been an unstoppable force in the league. The connection she has with Pornpun Guedpard has been phenomenal throughout the year. Look for that to continue Sunday night.

Lindsey Vander Weide (Outside)- Coming off the bench in Saturday’s win over Atlanta in five sets, Vander Weide proved to be big for Orlando, putting up seven kills and five digs in front of a roaring home crowd. She has the capability of scoring at an enormous rate, as she notched a PVF high 30 kills last season for the San Diego Mojo.

By the numbers: Orlando is 6-1 on the season when they record over a .300 hitting efficiency.

Fury Players to Watch:

Isabella Rapacz (Opposite)- Averaging 16 kills in her last six matches, Rapacz has helped Columbus’ offense immensely. Recording 10 blocks in her last four matches, she’ll be a key piece to watch in how successful Columbus is against Orlando.

Raina Terry (Outside)- Another big offensive contributor who can score in bunches, Terry can go off at any point. Recording 22 kills against Indy back on January 18, watch for Columbus to get her going early and often. In the first meeting with Orlando, Terry recorded 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks.

By the numbers: Columbus is 3-3 on the season when they record more than 50 kills in a match.
