COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8/8 Ohio State women’s basketball team (22-4, 11-4 B1G) hosts Purdue (9-17, 2-13 B1G) on Sunday for senior day. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on BTN and AM1460.
Fans are encouraged to wear scarlet. The first 5,000 fans will receive free pom poms upon entry. Be sure to arrive early as the Buckeyes will honor the senior student-athletes prior to the game and stay in your seats at halftime as the senior managers and videographer are honored.
- Ohio State suffered a 71-61 loss at Indiana on Thursday night. After trailing 26-17 after 10 minutes, the Buckeyes tied the game at 26 but were unable to regain the lead due to the Hoosiers’ sharp-shooting performance.
- The Buckeye defense recorded 12 steals and forced 21 IU turnovers as it increased its streak of games with 10 or more steals to 10 games.
- Jaloni Cambridge led the game with 18 points and four steals. Cotie McMahon also scored in double figures with 14 points. All nine OSU players to see the court scored points.
- On Monday, Ava Watson was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week and McMahon was named to the Big Ten weekly honor roll.
- On Wednesday, head coach Kevin McGuff was one of 15 coaches named to the Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year watch list.
- Purdue visits Columbus with a 9-17 overall record and is 2-13 in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers most recently lost to Minnesota by a 74-61 on Wednesday evening.
- Purdue owns conference wins against Wisconsin and Northwestern.
- Destini Lombard leads the Purdue offense with 10.3 points per game as the Boilermakers have seven players averaging at least 6.0 ppg this season. Reagan Bass averages a team-high 5.0 rebounds per game.
- Ohio State leads 49-32 in the all-time series against Purdue and is 24-10 when facing the Boilermakers in Columbus. The Buckeyes’ most recent home win was on Feb. 18, 2021.
- Last season, OSU earned a 71-68 win in West Lafayette. OSU had a six-point lead at halftime before Purdue claimed its only lead of the contest by scoring the first seven points of the third quarter. The teams were nearly identical from the field with OSU shooting 24-of-53 and PUR shooting 23-of-54.
- The most recent meeting between the teams in Columbus was on Jan. 29, 2023 when Purdue won by a 73-65 margin.
