Ohio State Women’s Basketball News: Cotie McMahon and Jaloni Cambridge Named to Midseason Top 50 Watch List

The USBWA announced its Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year midseason watch list on Monday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The United States Basketball Writers’ Association (USBWA) announced its midseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year award on Monday. Ohio State junior forward Cotie McMahon and freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge were among the 50 players on the list.

This season, McMahon was named to the preseason watch lists for the Cheryl Miller Award, Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award, also being named to the Wooden Award’s midseason top 25. She was named to the Big Ten Preseason Team by both the media and the league’s coaches and earned a spot on the Big Ten weekly honor roll on Dec. 9.

McMahon leads the Buckeye offense with 16.5 points per game this season, has 15 games in double figures and four games with 20 or more points. She has two double-doubles this season and is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game. Among Ohio State career rankings, McMahon is 21st in scoring with 1,286 points, 14th in free throws attempted (463) and 15th in free throws made (301). She owns 484 career rebounds.

Cambridge has made a big impact in her first season so far. She has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice (Jan. 13, Jan. 20) and been on the Big Ten weekly honor roll twice (Nov. 11, Jan. 20).

Cambridge has scored in double figures in 12 games and recorded five or more rebounds in eight games out of the 17 she’s played this season. Cambridge leads the Buckeyes with 65 assists this season and is second in scoring (14.6 ppg) and steals (34). She’s tied for sixth in the conference in steals/game, ranks 11th in assists/game and is top-20 in scoring.
