DAYTON — Alex Huibregtse, a member of the Wright State men’s basketball team, has been named the January Male Athlete of the Month, presented by Life Connection of Ohio and Lions Eye Bank of West Central Ohio.
Huibregtse averaged 14.6 points per game over seven games played in the month of January, tallying double digits in six contests. He scored a season- and month-best 31 points against Purdue Fort Wayne on January 15, eclipsing the 1,000-career point mark in that same game. Huibregtse finished the month shooting 38 percent overall with a 35 percent mark from three-point range, adding 23 rebounds and 20 assists to his final monthly stat line.
Huibregtse and the Raiders are back in action on Saturday as Wright State celebrates Homecoming with a 7 p.m. tipoff against IU Indy. The Raiders then trek to Wisconsin for a pair of games before returning home for their final two regular season home contests on February 21 against Northern Kentucky and February 27 against Cleveland State.
