SEMINOLES FACE MICHIGAN IN SWEET 16 AT BANKERS LIFE FIELDHOUSE SUNDAY AT 5:00 P.M.
Florida State, which has defeated UNC Greensboro and Colorado in the first two rounds of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, plays Michigan in the East Regional Semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. The game will be played at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., and televised nationally on CBS. The Seminoles are making the seventh Sweet 16 appearance in school history and third in the last three seasons. The Seminoles are playing Michigan for a place in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament – the East Regional Finals. The Seminoles have advanced as far as the final eight teams in the NCAA Tournament three times in school history – 1972 (played in NCAA National Championship Game), 1993 (lost in Elite Eight) and 2018 (lost in Elite Eight). In Sunday’s game, the Seminoles are facing the Wolverines in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three years – the two teams met in the Elite Eight in 2018 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Florida State is one of three teams that has advanced to the Sweet 16 of each of the last three NCAA Tournaments. The Seminoles are joined by only Gonzaga and Michigan as the three teams who have advanced at least as far as the Sweet 16 in 2018, 2019 and 2021)
FLORIDA STATE’S ELITE 8 APPEARANCES
Florida State faces Michigan in the East Regional Semifinals of the 2021 NCAA Tournament with a spot in the Elite 8 on the line. The Seminoles have advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament three times in the history of the program with their most recent appearance coming under Head Coach Leonard Hamilton in 2018.
FLORIDA STATE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT UNDER HEAD COACH LEONARD HAMILTON
Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton has led the Seminoles to eight NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 13 seasons (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021). He has led the Seminoles to nine of the 18 NCAA Tournament appearances in school history. Florida State made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the 1968 season and made three appearances under Hugh Durham (1968, 1972 and 1978), one under Joe Williams (1980), five under Pat Kennedy (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993) and now eight under Hamilton. Hamilton is the Seminoles’ leader in victories (378), NCAA Tournament appearances (eight) and NCAA Tournament victories (11).
SEMINOLES IN THE LAST FOUR SEASONS
Florida State enters Sunday’s game against Michigan with a 96-31 record in the last four seasons for a .756 winning percentage. The Seminoles are 18-6 this season, were 26-5 in the shortened 2019-20 season, won a school record 29 games (29-8) during the 2018-19 season and were 23-12 during the 2017-18 season. The Seminoles are averaging 24.0 wins in each of the last four seasons.
FLORIDA STATE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Florida State enters its game against Michigan ranked No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the Associated Press poll. It marks the fifth consecutive week and seventh week this season that the Seminoles are the highest ranked ACC team in both of the major college basketball polls. The Seminoles began the season ranked No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and No. 21 in the AP poll.
SEMINOLES’ NEARLY UNHEARD OF OVERTIME WINNING STREAK
Florida State defeated Wake Forest, 92-85, in overtime on February 23 in Tallahassee for its all-time college basketball record tying 11th consecutive overtime victory. The Seminoles have won each of the their overtime decisions since a 101-90 double overtime win over Syracuse on January 13, 2018 in a game played at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles now hold the all-time national record for consecutive overtime victories of 11 along with Louisville (1968-75), UMass (1991-96) and Virginia (1991-96)
