COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8/8 Ohio State women’s basketball team (19-1, 8-1 B1G) hosts Washington (13-8, 4-5 B1G) on Sunday for a 5 p.m. ET tip. The game will be broadcast on BTN and AM1460.
Sunday is alumnae day as the Buckeyes will recognize their alumnae on the court during halftime. The first 200 fans in attendance will also get a free Ohio State women’s basketball dub crown crewneck.
- Ohio State earned a 72-66 win against then RV/25 Nebraska on Sunday in front of the third-largest women’s basketball crowd in history at Pinnacle Bank Arena (9,772). Nebraska had not lost in Lincoln since Feb. 3, 2024.
- Taylor Thierry led the game with a season-high 23 points on 8-of-10 (.800) shooting and made a career-high five triples (5-of-7). Cotie McMahon had a double-double (15p/10r) and Greene had 11 points.
- Thierry was named to the Big Ten weekly honor roll on Monday as all five starters have now been honored by the conference this season.
- Washington visits Columbus with a 13-8 overall record and is 4-5 in Big Ten play.
- In their first season in the Big Ten, the Huskies have earned conference wins against Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue and lost to No. 1 UCLA, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa and Indiana.
- Sayvia Sellers leads the Huskies offense with 16.3 points per game, while Elle Ladine (16.1) and Dalayah Daniels (11.3) also average double figures. Daniels leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.
- Ohio State leads 2-1 in the all-time series against Washington after having to vacate one win later due to NCAA rulings.
- The most recent meeting between Ohio State and Washington took place on Dec. 5, 2018 in Seattle when Washington earned its first win of the series (69-59).
- This is the third time in the Kevin McGuff era that he will coach the Buckeyes against his former Huskies. McGuff was the head coach at Washington during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, amassing a 41-26 overall record. He guided the Huskies to two WNIT berths, making it as far as the quarterfinals in his first season in Seattle.
