COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home looking to capitalize on one of its best wins of the season as it hosts Iowa on Monday night at Value City Arena. This will be the only regular season meeting between the teams. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1. Jeff Levering and Stephen Bardo will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Paul Keels and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
- Overall, this will be the 171st all-time meeting between the two teams and the series is tied 85-85. The overall point margin is also close as the Buckeyes have outscored Iowa by just 26 points in the 170 meetings. Officially, taking into account vacated games, Iowa holds an 83-80 edge.
- Last year, the teams split their two meetings. Iowa won the regular season matchup in Iowa City 79-77 as that game featured 15 ties and 10 lead changes. The Hawkeyes held a 17-0 advantage in fast break points. The Buckeyes then got their revenge in the Big Ten Tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 90-78 victory. Jamison Battle scored all 23 of his points in the second half and Ohio State never trailed in the game. Bruce Thornton added 14 points and nine assists.
- This is the 126th season of Ohio State basketball and the Buckeyes are one win away from their 1,800th in program history.
- The Buckeyes are coming off one of the best road wins of the year, winning 73-70 at No. 11 Purdue last Tuesday night. Micah Parrish scored 17 of his career-high 22 points in the second half to help the Buckeyes erase a 16-point deficit and claim their first win in Mackey Arena since 2018. The win also snapped Purdue’s 26-game home winning streak.
- Parrish has recorded a season-high in points each of the last two games, scoring 19 against Indiana and 22 at Purdue. He has shot nearly 70 percent from the floor and has made seven three-pointers in those two games.
- Freshman John Mobley Jr. made a clutch shot in the final minute to help secure the win at Purdue. He is the only Big Ten player to have made a three-pointer in every game this season. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native is shooting 43 percent from beyond the arc and is averaging 12.3 ppg.
- Bruce Thornton made a three-pointer at the end of the first half at Purdue and then canned a three-pointer on the opening possession of the second half. Those were two of just his three makes on the night, but they may have been the two biggest shots of the game for the Buckeyes, helping ignite the comeback.
- Iowa snapped a three-game losing skid with a 76-75 victory over Penn State at home last Friday night. The Hawkeyes have one of the top scoring offenses in the country, averaging over 86 points per game.
