WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For his role in leading Purdue to a pair of big road wins, Purdue junior Trey Kaufman-Renn has been named both the Naismith Men’s College Basketball Player of the Week as well as the Big Ten Player of the Week, it was announced today.

It marks the second time this season that Kaufman-Renn has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, previously earning the award on December 2, after leading Purdue to the Rady Children’s Invitational title.

Braden Smith was named the Big Ten Player of the Week two weeks ago on Jan. 6, giving Purdue three weekly honors in the last seven weeks.

In wins over Washington and No. 13 Oregon, Kaufman-Renn averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while going 12-of-16 from the free throw line.

Against Washington, Kaufman-Renn scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half to help Purdue rally from an eight-point halftime deficit for a 69-58 victory. Then in Saturday’s win over Oregon, he scored 23 points with 11 rebounds for his second career double-double in the 65-58 win over the 13th-ranked Ducks. He went 9-of-9 from the free throw line against Oregon to stave off any comeback.

For the season, Kaufman-Renn is averaging 17.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 59.0 percent from the field. He is one of two players nationally to average 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting at least 58 percent from the field.

Kaufman-Renn and the 11th-ranked Boilermakers host Ohio State on Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
