COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will head to Mackey Arena on Tuesday evening to take on No. 11 Purdue in the only meeting between the two teams this season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on Peacock. Noah Eagle and Robbie Hummel will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Ohio State Radio Network from Learfield. Neil Sika and former Buckeye captain Ron Stokes are on the call.
- The Buckeyes and Boilermakers are meeting for the 188th time and Purdue holds a slim 94-93 lead in the all-time series. Taking into account vacated games, Purdue officially leads the series 94-87 and a 31-15 edge in Mackey Arena.
- The Buckeyes last won in Mackey Arena in 2018 on a Keita Bates-Diop last-second tip-in. That gave OSU a 64-63 victory.
- After meeting three times the previous year, the teams met just once last year and what a memorable game it was for Ohio State. Jake Diebler was named the interim head coach just four days prior and the Buckeyes would stun No. 2 Purdue 73-69 in Columbus. Bruce Thornton led the way with 22 points while Jamison Battle added 19 points. The Buckeyes forced 14 turnovers, including six from big man Zach Edey.
- Last time out, the Buckeyes dropped a tough 77-76 overtime game to visiting Indiana on Friday night. In a game that featured 13 lead changes, the Buckeyes led by five at halftime and then trailed by 10 with four minutes to play. A furious comeback led to a tie game and overtime in which the Buckeyes had two shots at the end of OT to win the game but couldn’t convert.
- John Mobley Jr. led the Buckeyes with 22 points on five three-pointers. That was tied for his most three pointers in a game this season, matching his total from the Campbell game on Nov. 22.
- Mobley Jr. is one of just two Big Ten players to have made a three-pointer in every game this season. He has made 42 threes on the year and is shooting over 43 percent.
- Micah Parrish is coming off a good game vs. Indiana, scoring a season-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also matched a season-high with three steals and leads the team with 21 steals on the year.
- Bruce Thornton is averaging 17.4 points per game, which is eighth in the Big Ten. He is just six points away from tying Kaleb Wesson and former captain and current radio analyst Ron Stokes in career points. Wesson and Stokes are tied for 37th all-time with 1,240 points.
- Purdue has won seven consecutive games and is a half-game behind Michigan State at the top of the Big Ten standings at 7-1. The Boilermakers just completed their west coast swing and picked up two wins over Washington and Oregon.
